Dr. Scott Benson
DVM
Dr. Scott Benson was born and raised in NYC. After graduating with his BS in Biology from Hofstra, he received his DVM from the University of Bologna in Italy in 1979. He completed a six month rotating internship and has been licensed in NY since December 1979. After working in a several small animal medical facilities and attending a multitude of continuing education seminars, he joined the Pet Doctor in December of 1990. His has always maintained a special interest in small animal surgery and performs almost all the surgery at this facility. Outside of work, he enjoys playing golf, training in Martial Arts and working out in the gym..
Dr. Bryce Peterson
DVM
Dr. Peterson graduated from Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2023. After earning his degree, he completed a small animal rotating specialty internship in San Diego in 2024, where he gained hands-on experience in surgery, emergency medicine, ophthalmology, oncology, internal medicine, radiology, and neurology. He then spent a year practicing in both general practice and urgent care across Boston, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Dr. Peterson especially enjoys ophthalmology and dermatology and is passionate about providing thoughtful, compassionate care for his patients and their families. Outside of work, he enjoys reading, watching movies, and traveling.
Dr. Britny Thomas
DVM
Dr. Britny Thomas was born and raised on the beautiful island of Grenada, WI. She received her Bachelor’s Degree of Veterinary Science from St. George’s University and subsequently graduated with her DVM in January 2025. She had the privilege of completing her clinical training at the University of Pennsylvania and participating in numerous externships across New York State and Philadelphia before joining the team at the Pet Doctor. Dr. Thomas has a particular interest in small animal medicine & surgery, as well as marine wildlife, and was involved in sea turtle research in Grenada. She now resides in Flushing, NY, with her partner and their beloved Yorkie Ringo. Outside of work, she enjoys travelling, reading and dabbling in fiction writing.
Dr. Amelia Hughey
DVM
Dr. Amelia Hughey grew up in Indiana and graduated with her B.S. in Biological Sciences from Indiana University. After finishing her bachelors, she attended The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine where she received her DVM in May of 2025. Throughout her time in clinics and on her externships she found a special interest in behavior and internal medicine. She has grown up around animals her entire life and participated in 4-H throughout her childhood which cultivated her love for veterinary medicine. Outside of veterinary medicine she enjoys creating art, doing puzzles, playing with her three cats, and seeing live music and theater.
Dr. Moustafa Ibrahim

Farhed
Farhed was born and raised in New York and attended college as a business major. She began her career in veterinary medicine in 2014 as a receptionist, where she quickly grew to love working with animals. Her passion for veterinary care led her to transition into a veterinary technician role, gaining valuable hands-on experience. In 2025, Farhed joined The Pet Doctor team as Practice Manager, where she now oversees daily operations and supports both staff and clients. Outside of work (though she proudly admits to being a bit of a workaholic!), Farhed enjoys traveling to different countries, participating in missionary work to give back to the community, and event planning. She also loves taking long walks with her beloved senior dog, Harley, and spending time with family and friends.
